Mission Accomplished!

The Area Plan for Worcestershire, published on the 27th August 2008, confirms that Bretforton Post Office is to be retained and remain open!

This is excellent news for the village and means that convenient access to postal services will continue, and in addition, will help to ensure the continued viability of the village shop.

There will now be a 6 week public consultation on the proposed closures before final confirmation of the Area Plan, but there is no precedent from other areas of a Post Office being closed once it has been selected for retention.

The majority of the Post Offices selected for closure in Worcestershire are in the South and West of the county. Locally, Wickhamford, Cleeve Prior and Bengeworth are on the closure list, while along with Bretforton, those at Badsey, Honeybourne and Offenham are to remain open.

On behalf of the Friends of the Post Office Committee, we would like to thank all those villagers who took the time and effort to write to the stakeholders prior to the public consulation phase to ensure that the strong arguments for the retention of our Post Office were understood while the plan was being drafted.

Thank you for ensuring the future the Post Office in Bretforton

The viability of the village shop will be increased as a result of the decision by the Post Office to keep Bretforton Post Office open.
