The Area Plan for Worcestershire, published on the 27th August 2008, confirms that Bretforton Post Office is to be
retained and remain open!
This is excellent news for the village and means that convenient access to postal services will continue, and in addition,
will help to ensure the continued viability of the village shop.
There will now be a 6 week public consultation on the proposed closures before final confirmation of the Area Plan, but
there is no precedent from other areas of a Post Office being closed once it has been selected for retention.
The majority of the Post Offices selected for closure in Worcestershire are in the South and West of the county.
Locally, Wickhamford, Cleeve Prior and Bengeworth are on the closure list, while along with Bretforton, those at Badsey,
Honeybourne and Offenham are to remain open.
